A leader supports the school community in acquiring and applying foundational knowledge about First Nations, Metis, and Inuit for the benefit of all students.
I have come to realize over the past number of years the significance of white privilege in the world. I have had the chance to learn about this both through my Masters classes and the opportunity to learn about First Nations, Metis, and Inuit culture and concerns through professional learning. I have been fortunate to have taught the grade 7 Social Studies curriculum which affords significant opportunities to share foundational knowledge to students in a very open and factual way. Additionally, I have been blessed with a number of students over the years who have shared their journey of learning their culture and traditions.
